WE WELCOME THE NEW

Church of the Morningstar is meant to be a warm, inclusive place. New members should be met with a kind, inviting attitude. The same is also true of new ideas.

Beginners in magic are to be valued and respected. There are no “stupid” questions. We are all learning together.

WE CAN ALL ASK FOR HELP

Nobody here is above anyone else. We are all divine yet imperfect human beings, growing and learning. Everyone needs support sometimes—including our leaders.

Asking for help when you need it gives others an opportunity to show their strength by providing compassion and care. This can actually be empowering to the ones who come to your aid.

Inviting others to help you problem-solve makes this space more collaborative. Two heads are better than one. Allow others to share their strength and brilliance.

CLEAN UP THE TRASH

We are a volunteer-run, shared community space. We all do our part to make it beautiful.

In shared physical space, everyone, including the leaders, should be willing to do menial tasks such as set up chairs and clean-up after rituals. No-one is above “the dirty work.”

In shared digital space, we can do the same thing by all being vigilant, checking ourselves on toxic behavior, and remembering to treat one another with honor.

WE GROW TOGETHER

We are all learning and growing as human beings.

Do your best to be kind, respectful and thoughtful in your interactions. Try to assume best intent in others.

We do not tolerate bigotry, but we are interested in healing ignorance. If someone is merely in need of education, offer it to them—especially if you are a member of the privileged group in the interaction. Don’t make the most marginalized members do all the work!

If someone offers you a call-out or corrects you on something, try not to get defensive. Lucifer is the light-bringer, and sometimes his light is harsh. It can hurt to realize you’ve made a mistake, but through such pain, you can grow.

Remember: it is not loving to allow your friends to behave badly.

NO TOLERANCE FOR INTOLERANCE OR PREDATION

Church of the Morningstar makes space for those who desire liberation for all human beings.

We do not, cannot, and will not hold space for bigots and supremacists.

We also have no tolerance for predators who try to take advantage of our community for their own ends, be they sexual, financial, or otherwise.

TREAT EACH OTHER LIKE PEOPLE

Interact at all times as equal human beings. Thou art God, but so is everyone else.
